IWM North’s Big Picture Show, The Roads We Walked, celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Fifth Pan-African Congress held in Manchester, in October 1945. The meeting became a key factor in the many African independence movements that followed, bringing together activists, intellectuals, journalists, trade unionists, and political leaders, including three future presidents.
Produced by Soup Collective & written and performed by a group of young poets from Manchester’s literary charity Young Identity, the film highlights the legacy of the historic event.
